Pracuje w Katedrze Antropologii Literatury i Badań Kulturowych WP UJ, prowadzi Ośrodek Badań nad Kulturami Pamięci, działa w Kolektywie Kuratorskim.  Zajmuje się teoriami badań literackich i kulturowych,  w tym zwłaszcza badaniami nad kulturą wizualną i kulturami pamięci. Autorka książek Nowoczesny esej. Studium historycznej świadomości gatunku (Kraków 2006), Od kultury ja do kultury siebie (Kraków 2015), współredaktorka kilku tomów na temat badań nad pamięcią. W 2011 uczyła na University of Chicago.

Stypendystka Fundacji Kościuszkowskiej, Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation, ERSTE Stiftung oraz European Holocaust Research Infrastructure.  Pracuje w zespole redakcyjnym serii Nowa Humanistyka (IBL PAN). Kierowała grantem Awkward Objects of Genocide w ramach projektu Transmitting Contentious Cultural Heritages with the Arts: From Intervention to Co-Production  (Horyzont 2020, Reflective Society, 2016-2019). Prowadzi  zespół badawczy realizujący grant Nieupamiętnione miejsca ludobójstwa i ich wpływ na pamięć zbiorową, tożsamość kulturową, postawy etyczne i relacje międzykulturowe we współczesnej Polsce (NPRH 2016, Rozwój). Współ-kuratorka wystawy Widok zza bliska. Inne obrazy Zagłady (2018-2019). Obecnie pracuje nad teorią nie-miejsc pamięci  i wizualnymi badaniami  w kontekście ludobójstwa.

Director of the Research Center for Memory Cultures,  teaches at the Anthropology of Literature and Cultural Studies Department at the Faculty of Polish Studies, Jagiellonian University, Krakow. Co-founder of the Curatorial Collective. Specializes in  criticism and theory,  visual culture studies, and memory studies. Focuses on relations between images, sites and memory, currently working on a project on non-sites of memory in Central and Eastern Europe. 

Head of the research project Awkward objects of genocide. Vernacular art on the Holocaust and ethnographic museums, developed within  the project Transmitting Contentious Cultural Heritages with the Arts: From Intervention to Co-Production (Horizon2020, Reflective Society, 2016-2019)  and of a project Uncommemorated Genocide Sites and Their Impact on Collective Memory, Cultural Identity, Ethical Attitudes and Intercultural Relations in Contemporary Poland (Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the National Programme for the Development of Humanities); 2016-2019. Co-curator of the exhibition Terribly Close. Polish Vernacular Artists Face the Holocaust (2018-2019).

Awarded by Kościuszko Foundation, Christian A. Johnson Endeavor Foundation, ERSTE Stiftung and  European Holocaust Research Infrastructure.
